Behind the Scenes at the ICC Birmingham

GOLD RUSH: Behind the Scenes at the ICC Birmingham

There are some jobs that are a little bit bigger than your average balloon delivery… and our annual trip to the ICC Birmingham for the National Entrepreneur Convention is definitely one of them! ✨

So here is a little look at behind the scenes at the ICC Birmingham…

Every year we get to create the balloons for this fantastic event, and every year there’s a new theme to work with. This year, the theme was Gold Rush, with a real Western-inspired feel.

So naturally, we decided to take the theme quite literally and go ALL GOLD! 🤎✨

From Idea to Installation

When we first found out this year’s theme was Gold Rush, we knew we wanted to go all in with the gold!

We chose an entirely Reflex Gold colour palette, using lots of different balloon sizes and organic shapes to create plenty of depth and impact.

The Preparation Begins

A job this size takes a LOT of preparation! From equipment and frameworks to balloons, pumps and all the little bits in between, there was plenty to organise before we could even think about heading to Birmingham.

We also brought in some extra pairs of hands to help us tackle the installation — which made a huge difference!

Bringing the Gold Rush to Life

Once we arrived at the ICC, it was time to bring everything together.

We created an organic entrance arch, two large organic garlands, nugget-inspired displays and lots of gold balloons throughout the venue, all designed to work alongside the existing props and styling.

And, of course, everything was gold! ✨

A Little Look at the Finished Result

The finished installation was definitely a case of go big or go home!

One of the first things guests saw was a huge organic arch around the entrance, followed by a large 11-metre garland framing the main event space.

We also created garlands along the staircase, organic floor displays, our gold “nugget” creations and lots of large gold balloons suspended at different heights throughout the room.

The nugget effect was created by placing smaller balloons inside larger ones, giving them those unusual, slightly distorted shapes that looked just like oversized golden nuggets.

Everything was kept within that single Reflex Gold palette, but by playing with different sizes, shapes and heights, we were able to create plenty of visual interest without needing to introduce another colour.

And honestly… we think the finished result looked pretty spectacular. ✨

From Kirkham to Birmingham

Although we prepared as much as we possibly could at the shop, some of the work still had to be completed on site.

We had to bring a lot of equipment with us, so our van space was definitely put to the test! We even hired an extra-large van alongside our trusty shop van, Ginny.

Having some extra pairs of hands with us was also a huge help and cut several hours off the installation time — something we were very grateful for after a very long day!

Kirkham Corner 🛵

If you’re looking for something to do in Kirkham this Sunday, there’s a Scooter Meet & Market happening in Market Square from 12pm–4pm!

There’ll be scooters, live music, DJs, food, drinks and merchandise stalls — so if you’re around, why not pop down and have a wander? 🛵🎶

We’ve Been a Little Quiet…

If you’ve noticed we’ve been a little quieter than usual on social media recently, there’s a very good reason!

We’ve been busy behind the scenes getting everything ready for the ICC job — and when you’re preparing, loading vans and spending the day installing balloons in Birmingham, sometimes social media has to take a back seat for a little while. 😂

We’ll be back to our usual posting very soon, with plenty more balloons, behind-the-scenes moments and recent creations to share.

💗 From Us to You

As always, we’d like to finish with a huge thank you to everyone who continues to support Pink Tree Parties.

Whether you’re booking us for a large corporate event like the ICC, ordering balloons for a birthday, popping into the shop or simply following along with what we do, we really do appreciate it.

Jobs like this one take a huge amount of planning, preparation and teamwork, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who helped us make this year’s installation happen.

A special thank you to our extra pairs of hands who joined us for the weekend — you definitely helped us get everything completed that little bit quicker!

And of course, thank you to The Entrepreneur Circle for trusting us with your Gold Rush theme once again.

We can’t wait to see what next year’s challenge brings! 👀

Lots of love,

The Pink Tree Girls 💗
